Oklahoma had the weekend off as it gets set to head to Waco, Texas, to take on the Baylor Bears next Saturday in an 11 a.m. Big Noon Kickoff on FOX.

That didn’t stop the college football world from turning and fueling reactions to the college football week that was.

Nobody in the top ten outside of Georgia really had a weekend to ride home about. Michigan State lost at Purdue 40-29, Ohio State got all they wanted from Nebraska in a 26-17 win and Alabama struggled in a 20-14 win over LSU.

Plus, previously unbeaten Wake Forest was handed its first loss, Cincinnati got a scare from Tulsa and a former Sooner starred in his first collegiate start.

Here were some of the best social media reactions from over the weekend.

About that Nebraska win for Oklahoma...

This is what Oklahoma fans want more than anything from national pundits and the College Football Playoff selection committee. If it’s viewed as a bad performance for one team, then just be consistent and say this wasn’t a great one for the Buckeyes either against Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers have now played in six one-score losses. Talk about a tough season for Nebraska fans. Nebraska fell to 3-7 on the season and every game they’ve played in has been tight.

Nebraska is 3-7, but that defense has done some nice things

Look at those numbers. Against four highly-ranked teams, Nebraska has put the brakes on some high-octane offenses and good opponents. No moral victories when the team is 3-7, though.

It's more impressive when it's B1G on B1G crime

Joking here, but let’s wait for Tuesday night.

What was that Michigan State?

Fresh off being placed No. 3 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings, the Spartans went down at Purdue. The Boilermakers apparently are the best in FBS history at spring top-five stunners when unranked. Good for them.

ESPN's Greg McElroy called it

It was “hangover city” for Michigan State. One week after rallying to beat Michigan 37-33, the Spartans got dropped.

Lee Corso did, too

College football fans have to love when a patented Corso “not so fast my friend” pays off, right? Sooner fans definitely did this weekend.

Wake Forest is unbeaten no more

Yikes. Back-to-back seasons with big leads blown for Wake Forest against North Carolina. The Deamon Deacons fell against the Tar Heels 58-55.

The ending to Tulsa-Cincinnati was crazy

This performance won’t earn Cincinnati any love in the style points department and that’s significant for a group of five school that debuted at No. 6 in the CFP rankings.

The Bearcats are still perfect, though, improving to 9-0 with a 28-20 win over Tulsa. Cincinnati did its best to make things interesting late.

After Tulsa was stopped short on a fourth down at the Cincinnati 2-yard-line, the Bearcats had the football back with a chance to run out the clock. Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder inexplicably mishandled the snap on a quarterback sneak and fumbled the football right back over to Tulsa.

It ended with Tulsa running back Steven Anderson fumbling the football as he leapt toward the goal line on a fourth-and-goal snap from the 1.

Alabama won ugly over LSU, 20-14

The Crimson Tide could’ve been beaten on Saturday night if LSU got any sort of competent quarterback play. They didn’t and Alabama was able to fend off LSU’s fourth-quarter attempt to pull the upset.

Just six rushing yards for Alabama on 26 carries. That’s something you don’t see every day.

Oklahoma State's defense made life miserable for West Virginia

Oklahoma State beat West Virginia 24-3 as Spencer Sanders threw a pair of touchdown passes for the Cowboys. The 133 yards of total offense was the lowest number for West Virginia in 27 seasons.

Chandler Morris and TCU shocked Baylor

In his first collegiate start, TCU quarterback Chandler Morris put on a show. Morris finished 29-of-41 through the air with 461 passing yards and a couple of passing touchdowns. He also ran in a 12-yard score.

Morris transferred from Oklahoma in the offseason and OU head coach Lincoln Riley barred his transfer. That was later lifted after the Big 12 conference changed its transfer rule.

Bad just got worse at Texas

Just a hint of sarcasm there. Iowa State routed Texas on Saturday 30-7.

Make it a four-game slide for Texas

The Longhorns have lost four straight for the first time since the 2010 season. Texas’ only power-five victories have come against teams that fired their head coaches.

Texas fans are mentally prepping for it to get even worse

Surely, it won’t happen again where Texas loses to Kansas. Still, the burnt orange faithful is preparing as if that’s a possibility.

Oklahoma can lock up a Big 12 Championship game berth next week

After what transpired in Big 12 play, it’s set the stage where Oklahoma can iron down its berth in the Big 12 Championship game with a win over Baylor and an Iowa State loss at Texas Tech.
