Five No. 1 teams will be in action tonight, trying to reach next week’s Super 7 at Birmingham’s new Protective Stadium.
Tonight’s state semifinals include the top-ranked teams in 6A (Clay-Chalkville), 5A (Pike Road), 4A (Madison Academy), 3A (Montgomery Catholic) and 1A (Brantley).

Those teams will be trying to join Thompson and Central-Phenix City, which already have clinched spots in the Class 7A title game.

8:45 PM, Not so fast: Caleb McCreary with 3 straight completions for Catholic, the last one for 23 yards and a TD. No. 1 Catholic has tied MA 7-7 with 8:11 left.
8:34 PM, Upset still in the making: Montgomery Academy maintains its 7-0 lead over Montgomery Catholic entering the fourth quarter. Catholic beat MA 42-0 in the regular season and had outscored its opponents 629-33 entering this game. Wow. Would be the upset of the night.
In 2A: Clarke County leads Highland Home 21-13 as they start the third.
In 3A: Piedmont 24, Saks 16 (8:11 3rd)
In 5A: Pleasant Grove 27, Fairview 3: Demarcus Lacey goes 83 yards for his second touchdown of the night.
In 6A: Mountain Brook 15, Clay-Chalkville 12 (9:09 left in the third). Louisville commit Khalib Johnson with a 22-yard TD pass. Good one in Mountain Brook as expected.
8:34 PM, Vigor TD: Anthony Mix Jr. with a 61-yard TD pass. Mix also completes the 2-point pass to Abraham Daniels. Wolves lead Jackson 21-14 with 10:24 left in the third quarter.
