After a slow first quarter and early 3-0 deficit to East Carolina, Cincinnati dominated the second quarter, taking a 21-3 lead into halftime. Desmond Ridder has been sharp, completing 12-of-15 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns and setting a few career records in the process.
He is now the AAC’s career leader in total yards and total touchdowns and set a Bearcats record for career yards as well, surpassing his QB coach Gino Guidugli for first place. The Bearcats outgained ECU 325-77 in the first half.
The only negatives were a late goal-line fumble by running back Jerome Ford that could have extended Cincinnati’s lead even further and continued kicking woes for UC as Alex Bales missed a 45-yard field goal in the first quarter.
