The Florida Gators are set to turn in an impressive 2021 football recruiting class as national signing day looms. But before the Gators’ wrap up their class, one of their commits earned some big honors last week.

Four-star outside linebacker Chief Borders was named to the MaxPreps High School Football All-America Second Team. The annual teams honor the top players in the country for the high school season, picked by MaxPreps based on team success, individual production, and local, regional and state honors.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 242-pound Borders is the lone Gators’ commit to be named to the class but is coming off a monster season for Heard County High School in Carrollton, Georgia. He finished his senior year with 163 total tackles, breaking his school’s all-time record.

He’s ranked No. 308 nationally, No. 20 outside linebacker and the No. 25 player in the state of Georgia per the 247 Sports recruiting rankings.

Borders committed to Florida in November of 2019 and re-solidified his commitment a year later after Stanford starting showing interest. He signed his letter of intent with the Gators back in December and has already enrolled to the University.
