The Washington Football Team (6-9) has had a roller-coaster rebranding season under coach Ron Rivera. Washington is on the brink of winning the NFC East in Week 17. If it can pull it off, it would be its first division title since 2015.
Here's how WFT can end that four-season drought in its 2020 NFL regular-season finale:
MORE: NFL playoff clinching scenarios for every team in Week 17
1. Washington beats the Eagles
Washington needed a massive rally to beat the Eagles at home in Week 1. Now they will try to get a long-awaited season sweep on the road.
With the victory, Washington would be 7-9. Should the Cowboys also win to get to 7-9, Washington owns the head-to-head tiebreaker. Should the Giants win, they would be only 6-10.
2. Washington ties the Eagles; the Cowboys lose to or tie the Giants
Here Washington would finish 6-9-1. The Cowboys would either be 6-10 or 6-9-1. Either way, Washington would have the edge, either by a half-game or head-to-head tiebreaker over the Cowboys with the Giants stuck at 6-10 or 5-10-1.
After some major offensive struggles in recent weeks and a quarterback carousel, along with other injuries, WFT has faced plenty of late adversity. But all it takes is one strong performance against the Eagles to claim the NFC East title and the No. 4 seed (including a first-round home game) in the NFC tournament toward Super Bowl 55.
