Much to the chagrin of fans everywhere outside of Tuscaloosa and through no fault of the College Football Playoff, this year’s edition saw three blowouts concluding with a 28-point victory by Alabama over Ohio State in the title game.

While there are some ways already being argued on how to make the playoff better, I came up with five of my own with four being absolutely serious and one sort-of joking.

They are as follow:

1. Games on campus

Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

Sure, this will never happen due to the big-money people that run college football never allowing it, but the best part of the game is taken away when fans are forced to travel to sterile NFL and bowl stadiums instead of seeing their team on their own field.

Home-field advantage for the higher seed would be an advantage but that is what a higher seed deserves. This would also save the higher seed money.

2. Don't win your division? Sorry

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

It is still a sham that Alabama, who finished second in the SEC West in 2017, got to sit back and watch Auburn and Georgia battle for a spot in the College Football Playoff and play an extra game and still got into the playoff.

I’m sorry but if you don’t at least win your division, you should not be considered one of the best teams in college football.

3. Expand to six teams, including best Group of 5

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

This one is not that original but expanding to six teams would allow 1.) the two top seeds to get a bye that they earned and 2.) a Group of 5 school to finally get in.

This year, that would have been Cincinnati who proved against Georgia that they were the real deal. By making seeds 3 and 6 play and 4 and 5, that would allow to this crazy idea…

4. Top seed gets to pick first opponent

College Football Playoff trophy Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Everyone made such a big deal about Dabo Swinney ranking Ohio State 11th in his poll. Can you imagine if Clemson was the No. 1 seed and he chose to play the Buckeyes over Alabama? Talk about all-time bulletin board material.

A top seed should be allowed to choose their first opponent following their bye week. It would add so much intrigue.

5. Head coach boxing match

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Okay, I am semi-joking on this one but who wouldn’t want to see Ed Orgeron battle Brian Kelly in a five-round boxing match? Sure, that is a horrible example (Orgeron would win in a first-round KO) but can you imagine the possible matchups?

Saban vs. Smart?

Saban vs. Swinney?

Dan Mullen vs. everyone that has always wanted to punch him in the face?

You know what? I love this idea. Let’s make it happen.
