GOWEN — The Greenville High School football program, along with the Greenville Athletic Alumni Association, announced this week that they’d be hosting their annual Yellow Jacket Classic golf outing on June 26.
The outing will be hosted at the Links of Bowen Lake in Gowen. Greenville varsity football coach Nick Davis is excited to have the opportunity to host the event this year, a possibility that was in doubt for a while due to concerns over the coronavirus.
“This is an annual event that a lot of people look forward to each year, including myself,” Davis said. “It’s an opportunity for alumni, parents, and friends of the program to come together and celebrate Greenville football on the golf course. We are incredibly fortunate that things have played out like they have in terms of golf courses being open and the restrictions due to COVID being loosened.”
The event will be comprised of 18 teams of four golfers in an 18-hole scramble format. Participants can sign up as a team, singles or twosomes and will be organized into teams of four. The outing will feature a shotgun start with teams all starting on different holes.
The registration is $75 per person which includes the fee for 18 holes, a golf cart, entry for door prizes and lunch. There are also multiple sponsorship levels that come with various added incentives. Each golfer will receive a Yellow Jacket football cap for participating while the winning team will receive Yellow Jacket coaching shirts. All proceeds will support the Greenville football program.
Registration is limited to the first 72 golfers and participants must be at least 18 years old and cannot be a high school student.
