This game always smells a little funny for the Rams, no matter the situation either they or the 49ers are in entering it.

Los Angeles has had a roller-coaster of a past two weeks, adding star outside linebacker Von Miller (who may make his debut with the team tonight, according to Sean McVay), dropping a strange, sloppy loss to Tennessee in prime time last Sunday night, then adding star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Thursday, and the next day losing team captain and No. 2 receiver Robert Woods for the season.

The Rams have to be locked in despite all of the glamour and chaos in order to beat Kyle Shanahan, who has picked up four in a row against his buddy McVay.

This Rams defense is establishing its identity at the right time, and its offense still ranks No. 1 in overall EPA per pass play behind Matthew Stafford, despite the last game's struggles. The sense is that if Stafford can take care of the ball, the Rams can roll.
