MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State football will take to the Jayne Stadium turf for the final time in 2021 Saturday when the Eagles host Stetson for senior day. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. ET.
Morehead State will look to halt a two-game losing skid. The Eagles' and Hatters' series is tied 3-3 with MSU winning the last matchup in the spring at home, 31-14. In fact, MSU is 3-1 all-time against Stetson at home. A win against Stetson would lock up Morehead State's first back-to-back above .500 seasons since doing so in 2002 and 2003.
The game will air live on ESPN3 with Tanner Hesterberg on play-by-play. It can be heard on the Eagle Sports Radio Network with WIVY-96.3 FM serving as flagship station. Chuck Mraz, Jason Blanton and Tom Lewis provide the radio call. Fans can also hear it on MSUEagles.com, WGOH-110.9 FM/1370 AM and WMST-106.9 FM/1150 AM.

• Senior wide receiver
BJ Byrd is nearing the Morehead State single-season record for yards, held by Donte Sawyer with 1,024 in 2012. Byrd, who ranks fourth among all FCS players in total yards (991) and third in yards per game (110.1), needs just 34 more yards (with two games to go) to break Sawyer's mark. With nine more yards, he becomes just the third Eagle ever to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a single season, joining Sawyer and Chris Berry (1,016 in 1997).
• Byrd has the most 100-yard games in program history in a single-season. He has seven games with 100 or more receiving yards this season, bettering Sawyer's mark of four from 2012. Byrd also needs just nine catches to break Sawyer's program single-season record for catches with 81.
• Defensive end
Vaughn Taylor, Jr., has been named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List. The honor is the highest accolade given to an FCS defensive player.
•
Vaughn Taylor, Jr., is the MSU career record holder for TFLs with 56.5 and is chasing the single-season program record of 27 set by linebacker Fred Johnson in 1992. The PFL single-season record is also 27, held by Mario Kurn of San Diego in 2010. Taylor, Jr., ranks first among all FCS players in tackles for loss per game and second in total TFLs with 19.5.
• Graduate student QB
Mark Pappas has now moved to fifth place in career passing yards at Morehead State with 6,562, needing 438 to become just the fifth-ever QB with 7,000+ yards. Pappas' 54 career passing TDs ranks fourth on the MSU career chart, needing just two more to pass former great Chris Swartz (1987-90) into third place. His 226.3 yards per game for his career is also currently third place in the MSU record book.
• Grad student punter/kicker
Andrew Foster ranks second among all FCS players in punting average at 46.8. If his average holds, that would set the MSU single-season record, which is 44.0 by Greg Burke in 1986. Foster is seeking to become the first punter in program history to average 40+ yards in four consecutive seasons, and his 42.1 career average is second in program history only to John Christopher's (1979-82) 42.4.
• Morehead State has a 6-1 record at Jayne Stadium during the 2021 calendar year and now has three consecutive seasons with a .500 or better home record.
•
Vincent Winey has 209 career tackles now, and he has three consecutive double-digit tackle efforts. Winey has 44 tackles (14.6/game) in the last three, including nearly breaking his own school record of 23 tackles with 22 stops versus Davidson.
