Michigan football gets set to take on Penn State on Saturday and here are five predictions for the Wolverines. 

Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan football team have another big game on tap Saturday as the Wolverines head to Happy Valley to take on Penn State.

Going into the season, most would have expected the records to be flipped. Penn State was supposed to be the Big Ten title contender this season, while Michigan was supposed to struggle to get 7-8 wins.

Thanks to a resurgent season, Michigan is already 8-1 and is ranked sixth in the College Football Playoff rankings. If U-M was able to win out, there is a lot of potential but a huge test awaits against the No. 23 Nittany Lions.

And while Penn State would need a miracle to win the Big Ten East, if the Nittany Lions win out, there will likely be a major bowl game waiting for them too. So both sides have plenty at stake and here’s our look ahead with five predictions.

An excess of Hassan

We don’t know if Blake Corum is going to play on Saturday or Donovan Edwards for that matter. However, Harbaugh gave some clues that Edwards will be back this weekend so Hassan Haskins won’t have to carry the entire load himself. But he should still get a bunch of carries.

Haskins was made to run in the Big Ten. He gets better as the game goes on and he’s the guy this Michigan offense needs to lean on.

Even last year, when just about nothing worked consistently on the offensive side of the ball — the one thing that did was Haskins, even though he didn’t get the rock enough.

Michigan shouldn’t make that same mistake Saturday and against a solid but not spectacular Penn State run defense, it won’t and Haskins will get around 25 carries and over 100 yards.
